In 1975 Mark Cali turned his parents’ orchard behind the domes into the Winchester Ranch mobile-home park, which he and his wife Barbara built into a secluded senior community. After his death, and after the city named the wider Winchester area a potential urban village, the family put the land up for sale, and residents faced the loss of their homes.
