The number thirteen

The legend that Sarah Winchester filled her house with thirteens; the features were mostly added after her death.

Tour lore points to thirteen bathrooms, thirteen windows in a room and thirteen coat hooks. The story first appeared in print in 1929, seven years after Sarah Winchester died, and James Perkins, a longtime carpenter at the house, said such features were put in after her death. The house still marks the number: its flashlight tours often fall on a Friday the 13th.
